History Of Your Community Fire Department

The Pecan Grove area is approximately 20 miles Southwest of Houston; with the City of Richmond being our closest neighbor just to the west. We serve an area of about 7 square miles, and approximately 18,000 residents.
The majority of our area is residential with several schools, apartment complex, shopping centers, restaurants and the Pecan Grove Country Club. Our services include Primary Fire and First Responder medical coverage, HAZMAT along with non-emergency services such as lock-outs and in-home fire inspections.

Pecan Grove Fire Department was formed in 1982 by a small group of residents who felt that the area deserved it's own dedicated fire department. From that dream, the department has steadily grown into a highly qualified and respected organization that prides itself on service to our community and neighbors.
From one used fire truck and a handful of dedicated volunteers, we now operate with a 24 hour per day manned coverage, one pumper, one pumper/tanker, one rescue truck and a HAZMAT response trailer.

Of all the assets that we have, the most important one of all is our staff of Paid and Volunteer Fire Fighters and Emergency Medical Technicians. We currently have a dedicated staff of more than 40 members who devote thousands of hours a year and their lives to protect and serve our community and respond to an average of 750 calls per year.
We all want to make our community a better and safer place to live. Our Volunteer Fire Fighters and Medical Technicians come from all sorts of backgrounds and are an extraordinary group of dedicated people.

Our primary source of funding is from a voluntary charge that the department directly mails to the residents, several fund raising events throughout the year, and run reinbursements from Ft. Bend County. No property tax funds are recieved by the Department. If you are a resident of our community we thank you for your continued financial support so we may continue to provide you the quality services you deserve.

Again, thanks for visiting and learning a bit more about your Fire Department. "Neighbors Helping Neighbors, A True Community Fire Department!"
